iGoogle

How much do I LOVE my iGoogle page? For those who aren't familiar with iGoogle- I totally recommend you jump on google and have a go at customising your own igoogle page, that you can log in and use from any computer. Basically, it's your very own personalised google page. You have a choice as to what sorts of tabs you have (I have home, news, books, food, games and notes). Within each tab, you add gadgets, such as facebook, the weather, a calendar, gmail, del.icio.us etc. In my news tabs, I have gadgets for all of the different news websites such as smh, ABC, CNN, Reuters, CSIRO etc etc) You can pick and choose these gadgets by using the "Add Stuff" button on each page.

What's really fabulous about it, is that it updates all of your emails or fb status updates without you having to log on to see them. I also really love the way you can customise each tab. You can choose banners to suit each tab (for instance, I have a gorgeous book banner for my book tab. What's even cuter is that some of them change, depending on the time of day and your timezone that you set eg: I have one called "Spring Scape" and the frog and lady bird are either picnicking, or playing slip and slide in the park during the day, or toasting marshmallows by the campfire when it is night time!!!!)

I have tried to capture a screen shot to show you my igoogle page: (let's see if it works...)
Grr... I seem to be having issues adding an image....The image button isn't working.

Let's try again...
No the add an image button is playing silly buggers for the moment, so I will have to add it later.
Wait... it seems to be working now that I cut and paste this post into a new window...

Anyway, to get your own iGoogle page, just go to google Australia (google.com.au) and on the top right hand corner, you will see an 'iGoogle' link. Click on it, and it will go to another page. At the bottom, there is a link to "get started". If you click on this, you can start customising, and away you go!!!!

I thought that the gadgets were RSS feeds of certain websites, but they don't appear to be. They just appear to be top stories (if it's a news website), that when you click on it, it goes back to the website it originated from. At least, I think they aren't RSS feeds....

I guess one of the reasons why I joined up for 23Things!
